I've been a resident of Pierce County here in Washington State
for a number of years now. I've also been an active scanner
listener, and monitor most of the EMS services in the area.
The reason I'm posting this message is because someone has been
intentionally interfering with Pierce County Sheriff's West
Dispatch channel. They will typically key up and play music
over the system at random times, for several seconds, and
sometimes up to a minute or so. The problem has become so bad
lately, that the Dispatcher has had to direct everyone to a
different channel, to conduct operations.
For those that are not familiar with this system, it is a
conventional VHF system, that uses standard CTCSS sub-audible
tones. Apparently, some idiot has modified a radio and is
transmitting through the repeater. I would love to see this
person caught and prosecuted. I realize that this may be
difficult, due to the infrequent nature of the transmissions.
If enough scanner listeners in this area monitor the input
frequency of the repeater, we may be able to determine where
this person is. It's people like this that really give our hobby
a bad reputation. I sincerely hope this person is caught,
prosecuted, and has to share a cell with "Big Bob". I will list
the frequenceis.
West Dispatch (Repeater input) 154.710
" output 155.640
Thank you for your help. SAC
