: I saw on the news today that Federal Way is no longer getting police service via king county PD and is starting their own departement. Does anyone know what frequencies they will be using? Are they really starting an entire PD from the ground up? That doesn't seem very cost effective to me. Also if you have any info on SeaTac PD and Des Moines PD that would be really great. I think SeaTac is actualy contracted out to KCPD but I don't know how they handle that.

: Thanks for any ideas.

Yes I think i have tracked some information down;
I have been told that the are on a SMR set being operated
by an agency / radio service called "valley comm" it is supposed to be
run by Motorola and their gang, of course not directly since
they have divested their Repair facillities Via a
past court decision "Not to control the market"?
The other name of this elusive service is called "One-Comm" or
"Onecomm" I understand an other privatly owned but Motorola
supported service. I have caught some of their xmissions on
878.xxx (smr's) and have not found out their operating
or transmitter spread. I think the reason why we cant find them
is their not licensed as agencys, but are licenced within the system
as users like on a SMR. The systems are Hybrids combining both SMR
and Cellular operation modes and are being
suported to the FCC by motorola for a "NATIONAL"
police frequency spectrum in the 800 Mhz area.
With the new releases by Motorola of up to 16
scrambled channels per portable, keyboard programmable
and selected ciphers it's going to be interesting.
Somebody call Bill Cheek PLEASE....
