The SC200 is by far and a way the most superior radio for race scanning. If your not familiar with Uniden models, they just simply kick-ass. High-End stuff, and after the race...youll have a great looking quality scanner that is truly dynamic. The "smart scan" feature included in this radio is what should be very exciting to the race-fan user. SmartScan allows you to easily download tailored racing frequencies via the net and load them to your scanner without direct entry! A couple of clicks and youll have all the frequencies for your race stored and Alpha tagged no less! When andretti keys-up its gonna read out "Andret-Car" or "Andret-CREW" on the backlit screen. Very cool and at the fore-front of scanning tech. HOWEVER...Radioshacks Pro-74 is a scanner that allows a very unique twist to race monitoring. After you have entered in your frequencies for the 74, when your at the track, and you are following an individual car, you only need to simply enter in that cars number to scan all the frequencies associated with it (Pit, Car-to-Car, strategy..ect). This feature in my opinion is great for new and seasoned users alike. It allows you to concentrate on the race you paid to see and enjoy, rather than worrying about manually selecting banks and channels that you may or may not have the experience to logically define. At any rate enjoy the race. I am not a huge Kart or NASCAR fan, but have shared a love for NHRA with my father and attend the Nationals here at SIR every year with him. Hopefully this long-winded post will help in your selection. Happy Scanning!
