Using www.google.com as a searcher revealed the following...

1) The old COMSAT station on the hill at Brewster (hard to see the dish from the highway) is now part of the largest radio telescope network...called the VLBI...it has a 25-meter dish.(Very Long Baseline Interferometer).

2) The Loran C station at George is very visible at about milepost 146-155 on the south side of I-90...either four or six tall towers with bright flashing strobe lights...I visited it about 10 years by telephoning ahead and the Coast Guard folks gave me a really nice tour. Tune your auto AM radio from 570 through 720 kHz and you should hear the pulse transmissions as you drive by. I seem to recall the CG people telling me their ERP was something on the order of 1 million watts.

3) Try your searcher on the phrase Echelon, and see what comes up for Yakima and the whole Echelon project

: : What is the Loren C site?

: Loran C is a worldwide navigation system. In the US, it is run
: by the US Coast guard. It was used extensively by ships at sea
: and aircraft but is now becoming obsolete due to GPS.

: Loran C operates at 100 Khz down in the longwave band. The
: transmitter site at George is one of several in a "chain" that
: makes up the Loran C system in the northwestern US and Canada.
