My apartment is pretty well-shielded -- most cell phones don't work, Ricochet barely worked even though there was a repeater on the other side of the building, etc. But I get pretty good reception with the JC Whitney antenna. And it was inexpensive.
Sean, that's a good point. I forgot to look into cell phone antennas. If you're using it indoors, what are you sticking your mag mount to? (I had a ham antenna and I used an old steel plate from a very old mainframe computer system.)
