tacoma has moved staion 15 to 57th and mckleny ave they closed the on on the port of tacoma old staion 15 also how come we can never here a dispatch on tacoma fire can only here when they have a fire not any thing else do they not have tones and voice on other calls other then fires

Yeah I hate that too. :x The no tones at all, only for big fires. I think they dispatch on their MDT's. Im not entirely sure though.

I think they have telegraph lines to the stations, or at least some sort of hard-wired system to do voice alarms that doesn't use the radio. There's a TFD boom truck that is constantly driving around the city working on lines.

When I first read that, I pictured the dispatcher using morse code to relay the address :P

Actually, that's not far off. Many departments used to have ticker tapes. The telegraph would put the box number in morse code on the ticker tape. They'd then respond to that box. I'm sure Tacoma FD used to have that, because downtown there's still some old pull boxes on street corners.
