Observed WADOT field crews using simplex 853.050 ( 156.7 hz ) out on Camano Island, on June 2.

Part of their old Multi-Net system ?

That channel is used as a simplex channel down in SW Region as well. Not sure if the plan is to keep using 800 analog simplex when they switch over or use 700 P25 simplex, just have to wait and see. They use simplex alot down here along with another couple channels, as the current analog system didn't have alot of extra frequencies available to have chat channels on the trunked system. As the new system will have a minimum of three RF channels which give them five voice channels maybe they will start using the trunked system more for "Chat".

Activity has started to pick up more on the 700 system down in SW Region as new radios seem to be getting installed, including patches active to analog system.

Interesting find. Thanks for the FCC link. I tried searching for this a few days ago but didn't have any luck.

I've been monitoring WSDOT over the past couple of weeks and managed to catch this recording from their radio techs:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/kn54e3uk8m2t9 ... .mp3?raw=1

I found a few 700 meg freqs in their master list that could be used for simplex but have picked up nothing so far. I've caught many references to their simplex channels but they're probably still using these older frequencies for now -- not sure.

Also 852.675 PL156.7 but I couldn't confirm if WSDOT. Probably.

852.5875 is State Ops 3, usable by any agency in the state with an 800 MHz license. Its an interop channel.

Doh. Good call, yeah I thought that frequency was familiar. SO3 is used by CoB Parks too.

Well, I tried to obtain a TG list for the WADOT system and partly failed. Partly as in at least we know what talkgroups exist, failed as in the actual ID numbers weren't given to me.

Maybe someone can extrapolate them from what's been found, and Nicky will have a new project.

Good find. If I had to guess the list is in ascending talk group order. They seem to have a pattern of talkgroup assignment if I had to guess.
600XX talk groups are statewide/common
601XX are NW region
602XX are North Central region
603XX are Olympic region
604XX are SW region
605XX are South Central region
606XX are Eastern region
608XX are Airlift and maybe ferry?

Yeah and in the immediate Seattle area they're using 852.0375 PL156.7 for a snow-related backchannel.

Monitoring the "Rattlesnake" site near N Bend. It's able affiliate with Hyak and Bullfrog.

Wondering if the entire SC region will also affiliate other TGs? I put in Selah and Pasco, White Pass TG just to see.

Tonight the supervisor told the crews to "get off simplex and use 'Hyak". Later they mentioned going back to simplex ch 14 and 16
