Sad to hear.

I never got to meet Bob, but did exchange a couple of letters.

As far as I know, he never did have an email address. Strictly snail mail...

Years ago I had ordered a book from Scanners Unlimited that was Bob's first book that contained lots of never before published federal frequencies.

After a couple of days it arrived and I was amazed at all the information it contained.

As I was turning the pages I was doing a search of the VHF federal band with nothing being found.

Suddenly the search stopped and I heard someone say " Yah, 4291 with three mail boxes. Large one in the middle and small ones on each side of it." MY

ADDRESS! Holy crap! Postal Inspectors, FBI ???

I looked out front of my house and saw nothing unusual. I live on a dead end street so I jumped in my car and rapidly drove down to the volunteer fire station

which I was a volunteer of at that time. From there I had a clear view of anything heading to my dead end road. Sat there waiting for any traffic heading towards

my road for about an hour.

Nothing! Whew!

Returned home and continued to go over every page in the book!

The good old days before the internet!

Bob will be greatly missed and was a true pioneer to scanning and radio communications.

I met him once with a friend at his San Jose house. He was everything GE, as was his job. Nice guy.
