Someone will eventually explain why it was down, but I'm curious about what anyone noticed in the response of the agencies normally hosted on EPSCA simulcast. IPD seems to have gone underground. Not sure if they jumped to Snoqualmie air or just went to cell phones and IM. I didn't hear them on KC/VC.

I did see that EPSCA was still being advertised as a working neighbor by the other sites. That may have added a confusion factor to everything.

Yep I saw that too. Initially I thought it was off and I commented it on my post but then I updated my post later when it was showing active.

I suspect IPD fell back to VHF. I'm pretty sure their VHF frequencies are still in use.

My city radio (Redmond) reverted to site 01 (Seattle Simulcast). Perhaps IPD radios did the same. But you'd still think that some users further to the south would have been affiliated into KC/VC.

You were lucky, a lot of radios got stuck on Ed Hill while it site trunked and couldn't get off.

No, that gear's long gone. Public Works has a VHF repeater and handhelds they could have borrowed.

Most of IPD actually rides on KCVC. They probably didn't even notice EPSCA off the air.

Hrm... they must be rebroadcasting their signal on VHF then... I haven't checked the last few months but I swore their old frequencies were active...

I do remember hearing a lot of Redmond PD traffic during the outage. Most of Norcom defaults to Site 01 too I believe...

Yeah, I've watched the handhelds toggle sites indoors; Squak is usually better coverage. But I was monitoring KCVC, and didn't hear them, didn't see affiliations in the log. I suspect they were just laying low - perhaps didn't understand what capability they still had.

There is a big box of FRS radios at the EOC.

Typically the radios are smarter than the operators. The public safety primary talkgroups can float between the 3 simos easily without operator intervention. The city specific stuff (like pw or dog catcher) may only have 1 or 2 systems it's allowed on. It depends on priority of the talkgroup, site preferences and channel capacity at a site.
