Hi I first did a search on here but maybe I didn't use the proper keywords. I am looking for an article or posting on listening stations here in the U.S.A. Someone had a file you could download and open up in Google maps that showed the location of these places. They are used to listen and direction find transmissions in the USA. They were spread across the states so at least one would be close no matter where you were.
Any help is much appreciated :)

What kind of "Listening Stations" are you looking for? People at home that listen to scanners and then offer local scanner feeds over the internet ??

Sounds like the PO was inquiring about the FCC "Monitoring Stations", like the one up near Custer, Wa.

yeah someone had a listing that you could download for google maps showing all the GOVT listening stations. I think radioactive may be talking about what I was looking for.

The FCC monitoring station at Custer was closed years ago.

I believe that ALL of the existing FCC Monitoring Stations -- about a dozen that remain throughout the US -- are ALL operated by remote control -- from back east.
