Noticed a business (IG) License for the City of Seattle on 463.8375 R at 200 South Kenyon St. WQPA-257.
It lists: Public Utilities as the use. Does anyone know what it's use is for? Water Dept ? Sewers ? City Light ?

Looks like it might be a recycling & disposal center.

Thanks Jim. I didn't think it was a super secret project. Just some off the wall operations. Wonder why they are not on the trunked system. MTM

If they are being used at a place like that, contrast and compare a 2-300 dollar UHF portable being shredded along with recycled paper vs. an XTS5000 being shredded along with recycled paper...

The trucks that haul to the landfill have trouble getting into the Trunked System from inside the "tunnel" in the South Transfer Station. They use the portables to co-ordinate loading the trucks. While they could use a simplex channel on 800 MHz, the UHF radios are less expensive....
