I would much appreciate it if somone could explain the call levels as they pertain to fire in King and Snohomish county, as I hear the same thing from both Fire call outs. They will dispatch Fire and or Medics and say a level of the call? What do these levels mean or pertain to? thank you and thanks again for putting up with a newbies questions!

Red - Critical or Serious Injuries

Yellow - Minor Injuries

Green - No Injuries

Black - Deceased

My previous reply was for Medic or Aid calls and for Fire calls the colors are for,

Red - Flames showing at the scene and / or responding with lights and sirens

Yellow - Proceeding to the call at normal speed with no lights and sirens

Green - Cancelled and / or no longer needed at the scene

Black - Nothing visible at the scene

BLS - Basic Life Support

BLS-Yellow - non life threatening injury or illness - respond without lights/siren

BLS-Red - potentially life threatening/permenantly disabling injury/illness, respond with lights/siren

Medic Response - Life Threatening condition (heart attacks, etc), respond lights/siren

Code Red - respond lights/siren - also called "Priority"
Code Yellow - respond without lights/siren - also called "Routine"
Code Green - cancel the response
Code Blue - require immediate police assistance
Code Black - death on scene, request police and coroner
Unattended - unwitnessed death, police and coroner requested

If you listen to WSP working a major collision you may hear "Confirmed", which means they have a death at the scene.

You will also sometimes hear Valleycom units refer to an incident with an "Obvious" patient, which in that context means a fatality.

Nope. Work for an agency that shall remain nameless :-)

Been a longtime lurker on these boards before finally registering. I'm not as much into the technical side of the radios as others here are, but I'm familiar with general ops for most law enforcement and fire depts in the area.

I think seattleguy is ATF. ATF works with police and fire.
