I don't remember the frequencies and yes, tons of users. Over 500.

The heavy duty one is easy- the heavy duty housekeeping staff are the ones that use the floor buffers, carpet cleaners, etc, and do the heavy hauling, hence the call for an HD person to assist security with a 'bin'. the regular housekeeping staff are the ones that empty ashtrays, garbage cans, etc.

No clue about 01-111.

I'm leaning towards 121 as a security secondary channel. I think that was "on 7 garage", as in the 7th floor.

Just to necropost, it appears this LTR system has gone digital to NXDN. Will investigate further.

I've been wracking my brain all day trying to think of the proper way to word this, but this is the best I could come up with.

Shortly after I discovered that the casino has gone NXDN (or Nexedge or whatever JRW calls it this week), I texted an old friend from my days at the tribe who works within the casino now. He is fairly high up in the food chain, calling himself an executive when he's really just a manager (cheap shot at him as I'll be emailing the link for this post to him later  ). Anyhow, he called me in fairly short order and we began a conversation where I ended up asking him about the radio system there. What follows is nearly verbatim:

Me: So what're you guys using for radios there nowadays?

Him: What, are you selling them now? (laughs)

Me: Just curious, I heard you guys are all digital now...?

Him: Yeah, we've gone through about 7 different kinds of (expletive deleted) radios.

Me: And you settled on digital?

Him: Yeah, they're encoded (encrypted) and digital.

Me: Does that work better inside the buildings?

Him: Yeah, and no one can hear us.

Me: Was that a problem before now?

Him: Yeah, we did it because all of our radio info was posted all over the internet.

Me: (acting innocent) Huh?

Him: Yeah, it was on a website called **************.com. You ever heard of it? I know you're all into those scanners and radios and stuff.

Me: Yeah, once or twice.

Him: Yeah, (name deleted) wrote and asked them to take it down or something and they told him to (expletive deleted) off.
===========================================

The website named was not this one. It was, in fact, another national one that considers themselves direct competitors of this one, which is odd since they charge for premium access and place money-making ads on their site. Intercept, in case you didn't notice, does not.

Way to promote the hobby in a positive light. While I'm sure the other site's response (be it from their owner, mods, data admins or whatnot) wasn't actually along the lines of FOAD, it apparently was a less-than-stellar example of cooperative spirit.

Lastly, no I am not going to name the other website. I've NO wish to start any bickering, hacking, shenanigans or tomfoolery. Replies in this or any other thread berating them or others won't be tolerated. Let THEM do more damage to our collective hobby if they so want.

Appears as though it's actually MotoTRBO, per their license modification. Guess I need my ears checked now.

Sorry Joey.

No. Want the 50 minute wav file to listen to? Lots of active TGs

http://www.mediafire.com/download ... DSDPlus.mp3

And if you want subtitles (like with VLC):
http://www.mediafire.com/download ... DSDPlus.srt

Signal strength wasn't the greatest, therefore the decoding kinda sucked.

LOL @ digital = encrypted.

When MPD went OBT P25, I was chatting with a couple officers while waiting for an officer from another agency that I hitched a ride with...They kept saying how they couldn't be listened to...

They were proven wrong about 30 seconds later.....

I'll never forget the look on their faces.. utter confusion.

To the average non-radio-savvy user, it is. See also, FRS and "privacy codes".

And if you were referring to MPDC, they're correct. Streaming audio FTW!
