Spud be sure to upgrade the firmware today. New version is quite a bit more stable and fixed a lot of issues.

yea I did about 15min after they posted.. no more static trail.. nice. :) thanks for the heads up.

now my biggest issue is feature requests, the one bothering me the most right now is I hate how the alert light is only on for 3 seconds.

Hey Kelly
Did the earphone issue get fixed on your scanner? I'm curious as to if the audio noise is acceptable to you now compared to what it was.

Yea they fixed it.. My radio didn't work at all before so I have nothing to reference.. Audio seems find.. I have replaced all my base scanners with the 535 now. It performs perfect for my needs (monitoring 2-5 talk groups on the kc-trunk, and getting bored and monitoring some of the oddball systems)

Owen where did you get your 436 from - mine is still back ordered.

Got it from Uniden in Texas, it's a little different then the 536, one thing that is nice, you can tell it to auto locate your area, I guess it looks around for a active control channel then it ask you if this is the area that your in. with out using GPS, over all a nice scanner, although I don't care for the belt clip but it does hold on to my overhead visor very nicely, it only charges via USB, the button's work a bit different then the 536, but I sure do like it so far. screen size it nice but the font could be bigger, over all a very package. I bit more simple to use then the 536, but i have a ton more to learn about Uniden scanners, this is my 4th I have my dads old bearcat 20/20 the HP1 the 536 wiil get back here on monday and the 436 to play with the rest of the weekend. i have not done any user Favs yet, with the 2 new one, wateing to get them in the same pile before I make that move.Kelly what your thoughts so far on this new toy?....

So far I love it.. I really do like the database feature.. its perfect lazy scanning.. I dont like GRE units so never used theirs when they released this concept. I loved plugging it in and scanning systems instantly. I love the new display that is fully populated with all data, I love that I can Priority easy on a unit ID. I love the color LED (just wish it was on longer)

The concept of Fav Lists is sweet, I love that I can lock a system or department or just a channel. recording on the scanner is a really great feature.

I specifically purchased these for the streaming and wifi capability. So that I am very excited for.
I am very excited to use the 436 with my GPS and Zip functions while traveling out of the area (which I do alot anymore)

personally dont have any issues with the radios at all. the software isnt great but I have gotten along ok put my fav lists in and its working good enough. once its set up - you never really need to use it.

P25 isnt great, thankfully that isnt a problem here, and to be fair I am not properly antenna'ed to point at any P25 system but take MetroTDMA-P25 - the decode isnt perfect.. but ... I never had ability to listen to it before so... the firmware update seems to have helped it..

I have had the 436 going all day I just love this thing,I cant Waite for the 536 to get back on my desktop, drove around with the 436 clipped on the sun visor its a good fit for it. dont know why I did not do that before, so far the front end overload is no where near my GRE scanners, I used to take the gre-500 everywhere now it going to be the 436 turn.

Try Boeing P25. The new vocoder of the 536HP is really nice. P25 sounds much improved to me...

The 436 rocks, I could not sleep last night turned on the 536 about 3AM Marysvilles PD was in a low to high speed chase in Marysville to highway 9 then down 2 went south bound on 5 to Everett then back to Marysville. I had my 536,436, Gre 600 and the 500 going Snohomish county SO was updated on this but do not want to get involved, here is the funny thing, it ended up in a foot chase at walmart. O I forgot the driver had been pulled over a hour earlier by MPD so they new hew he was as the same officer had contacted the driver just about a hour before the chase.

536 #1 broken, 436 delayed by 4+ weeks from time of ordering. Sheesh...
