Anyone used the dsd-1.3-src.tar MotoTRBO decoder? I hear it only works on Linux machines, wondering if that's so.

The "src" in the filename indicates that it is the source code. The app needs to be compiled in order to run. On Linux it's called make. I don't know if it can be compiled on Windows, but you're better off dual booting 'nix.

Yeah, I'm just going to wait until it comes available in a Windows-friendly format; if at all. I can think of probably 10 MotoTRBO users off the top of my head, but nothing I'd care to listen to badly enough to make a foray into computer programming.

Wow....I just read the Wikipedia entry on Ubuntu, and I managed to understand most of the following terms: and, a, the, if, when, desktop & software. Remember, I look at most things 'computer' as 'magical'. Most days I'm thrilled if my laptop starts up.

Ubuntu is pretty slick. It's fairly close to Windows in it's logical layout and because it's open source there are endless sources of accurate and willing help on the internet. Intimidating at first, but it's worth it.

Who is using TRBO around here anyway?

this looks interesting for sure thanks for the heads up on it.. anyone know of any good audio bytes that I can run this against? now the problem is I have nothing to test it with

as for the Ubuntu/linux/bsd/windows debate I can end that...

ford is better then them all.

as for the windows I was looking at the code and its straped to /dev/audio so unless you port that and compile in windows sound stuff ... no but otherwise assume a windows port soon I would imagine that isnt rocket science to do

edit: update after looking into this software more haha look how they got around this mess

Compiling or using mbelib may infringe on patents rights and/or require licensing. It is unknown if DVSI will sell licenses for software that uses mbelib. If you do not have a license and are in a jurisdiction protected by the DVSI patents you should not compile or use this source code.

this code appears to be released 1st amendment, however its not released on a public code site.. but the "evil" site so it will be interesting to see what happens with the growth of this application since its technically something that the powers will fight as soon as it becomes popular... back to the windows port. assume that when the windows port happens that you will see this application vanish
