The Associated Press:

MONTESANO, Wash. An Elma man was killed by accidentally urinating on a downed power line after a one-car crash near Montesano.

Grays Harbor County sheriff's Deputy Dave Pimentel (PIM'-en-tel) said Monday that 50-year-old Roy Messenger was not seriously hurt after he collided with a power pole Friday night and called a relative to pull his car out of the ditch.

When family members arrived they found Messenger electrocuted. Pimentel says Messenger apparently urinated into a roadside ditch but didn't see the live wire.

Pimentel says there will be an autopsy but burn marks indicated the way the electricity traveled through the body.

I though mythbusters proved urinating on the 3rd rail in some mass transit systems did not pose an electrocution hazard. Wouldn't that go for power lines as well?

"burn marks indicated the way the electricity traveled through the body."

Maybe the power line has a bit more bite

This is shocking.

Watt's the problem here- don't you folks have the capacitance for sympathy? Late on a Faraday night, and all this guy wanted was to get ohm.

One can only hope the police finish up this investigation quickly and with no impedance, and anyone who may have been at fault, besides the deceased, is charged, probably in circuit court.

It's been a long day, and I needed an outlet.

I know a guy that pee'd on a cattle fence hotwire once. He crosses the street to the other side when he walks by that fence these days...

Looking back on my entry above, I feel an explanation for my conduct is in order.

I had a surge of creativity, and I was all amped up on coffee and andrenalin (just came home from a relay race). The boy was watching Transformers in the background, the wife was yakking, and I just had kind of a brownout. Nothing serious, just a phase I was going through.

Took out my angst on the web as opposed to ending up in a cell with a charge of....well, battery.
