What kind of soundcard (or chipset) do you have Wil?

As I said in a previous post, it seems to work best with newer sound cards/chipsets. If you have an older one, you may need to upgrade. (They are pretty cheap nowadays.)

Gah, now that I'm at work and away from my home set-up, I forget. It's less than a year old though...Sigmatel Audio sounds right, however. See also my post below.

SUCCESS!

The PDW program kept giving me an error message of "cannot open sound device" or some similar nonsense, so I tried Trunk88 and got the same thing...After banging my head for awhile, I just System Restored the machine back to Monday night's config....PDW works like a fucking man possessed.

Funny thing, the main local pager freq everyone was recommending (931.2125?) is still gibberishy, but I think that's my antenna and location. Another one on 929.xxxx (notes at home) BOOMS in, albeit with pages primarily from the Portland and Northern Oregon areas...Ambulance runs, towing, security dispatching, some really naughty stuff that seems to be prostitution-oriented, etc.

POCSAG, Flex Level-4, the program runs like a a rabbit, bred with a with a panther, shaved, with a jet engine, piloted by an over-caffeinated fighter pilot.

Thanks again to DSTE, who is the MAN, and everyone else for advice.

Now to get that taxi decoder thing working....

Yup, the 929.xxxx stuff seems to be mostly NW-related... I'd say more Oregon than Washington. The 931.2125 is mostly hospital and tech stuff around the area. Every now and then you get an interesting page.

931.9375 is very interesting though. It's national. NYPD, etc. I think a number of USGS scientists in this area use it because I saw an Alert sent out with Earthquake info. Sure enough, it was accurate information (about the 5.1 mag earthquake off Oregon coast.) Also, I see a lot of US military on there. No idea what they're for - possilby tech info or repair call outs.

Don't forget anyone can sign up at the USGS site for earthquake news...I get them as text messages to my phone.

I also saw (gotta find the paging freq again) all the Incident Paging network pages...Fires in Mass., carjacking in DC, armed robbery in NJ, etc.

Anyone sucessfully using the Taxi MDT decoder program, that Java-based one?

Trying it out now. I don't think any of the taxi services uses the same protocols around here. I'm not having any luck... I'm scanning the 450-455 and 460-470 range...

Also tried the 152 range and the software wouldn't display any data. :(

Seattle Fire pages on one of the old SFD UHF frequencies. 453.? I think 453.8 but I'm not sure. I use a Hamtronics UHF receiver and I can't read the frequency on the crystal because it's soldered in and behind an I.F. can.

I have two questions regarding PDW.

First what is this slicer unable to load error that keeps popping up when i initially start the program? I have tried loading the slicer manually but it will not do to an no proper port detected.

Second POCSAG is working excellent for me the two channels that work are 512baud. I am trying to pick up the several FLEX pagers i am recieving in the 900mhz band. I can see what type of flex pager and the blocks up toward the top however it will not decode. Most of these are 3200, or 6400. I have played with the volume on the computer multiple times with no help. I am using the audio card through the computer with 3.5 male to male jack.

Can anyone please give me some hints to decode some of these FLEX systems

Anyone monitor 462.8500? CWIDs as __EF234 but I'm pretty sure it's WPPG901.

If you know how to decode prerecorded MP3s, I'll send you some.
