thought this was interesting.

http://www.ntia.doc.gov/osmhome/spectru ... ov2007.pdf

"The law enforcement and investigative segment of the organization has a need to
operate in an encrypted mode. This requirement has increased in recent years as
more organized drug operations have moved into our National Forests."

also
"40.530 MHz and 41.530 MHz to operate the SNOTEL
(SNOwpack TELemetry) system."

.....And yet..... Everyone and their mother is fighting to keep CC/OC of firearms out of the national parks, saying 'It's a park, you don't need a gun!'...

So you need encryption to fight multi-million dollar organized narcotics manufacture and distribution networks but noone needs a gun.... (Except the rangers)... riigghtt...

Why don't we have a smiley holding an "I agree" sign with an arrow pointing up?

Department of Agriculture runs the US Forest Service (Forest Circus). Carrying is GTG in National Forests last time I checked.

Department of the Interior runs the National Park Service. I think we all know how that's going...

National Parks, yes.

National Forest, no.

Just when I thought I had this issue figured out... Now, I'm confused again.
I was under the impression that Natl Forests was always OK and Parks was only just recently OK. This also coincided with signage at these locations.

Can anyone post the actual laws? My GoogleFu is lazy.
