I'm bringing two laptops (one because it has a serial port, the other has all my stuff on it). The more the merrier.

Also at least one person will be monitoring 146.52 should you want to announce your arrival!

I think the final count was 28. Everyone was really good at saying their callsign really fast and it was hard to hear it all.

Thanks very much for setting up the meeting.

I have gone to meetings for about 30 years  and this one was by far
the best turn out ever.

Mark I have a picture of your Uniden before it bit the dust

Thanks to all who showed up and to all those who traveled so far to make this
the best INW meeting ever.

It was a real pleasure to meet the faces of those who are on this board.

Lets do it again.

Never mind the aircraft circling above outside. Just set it to "Close Call", go out and wave and turn up the volume.

This was an epic meeting for the ages. Thanks to all the who attended, and especially those who made it possible.

Those who missed out, truly missed out. Rich proved again how committed he is to not only the hobby, but to the community. I mean, c'mon- he flew up from Los Angeles for a 2 hour scanner meeting! Equally impressive was MTM (Mike) taking the train up from California...A two-day committment!

Wow- Rich and Marcus in the same room...That hasn't been seen in probably 7 years, and probably won't happen again.

Mark destroyed a $350 scanner for everyone's amusement- you can't see this shit on TV, folks!

I was impressed with the depth of knowledge that everyone possessed and was willing to share...Made me feel like I was still working out a Police Call book programming my old 10-channel Realistic scanner.

Most missed it, but Brian Preston demo'd one of the new Kenwood Nexedge portables, with it's proprietary 6.25khz digital format...All I heard was white noise. :(

Chris Parris discussed the IWN system, and that encouraged me to make a pledge to drive a couple of thousand miles in the next few months to log/look for new sites. Okay, I probably would've anyhow, but his expertise and insider's view was a wow factor.

Sean didn't do a lot of talking, but when he did, he was almost childlike in his wonder and curiosity at the world around him. No, just kidding, Sean. He did have a bunch of good tidbits. For those of you who haven't met him, Sean is a lot like the radio Rosetta Stone. He makes one small comment or correction, and you can extrapolate reams of data from it, if you think about it for awhile. Definitely a great guy to have on our side, and a serious asset to his employers.

Dan shamed me into promising to contribute more from the Puyallup/Tacoma/Lakewood areas. I've been lazy in the regard, and I apologize. Dan is THE trunking man, folks. If he doesn't know about it, you needn't bother listening.

Tim The Taco Man, as usual, put on a great meeting, and even Skyped it for anyone who wanted to listen, which I don't think anyone took advantage of. Thanks to Tim for doing all the legwork on this one.

I heard rumors of an after-party at some burger place, but didn't attend- I went to another one instead.

There are lots of people I'm obviously missing, but I was struck dumb for most of the meeting.

Thanks to all who showed up, and made this thing a smashing, rousing success.

Now, PM Mark and ask him for pctures!

Thanks to everyone for coming and a big thanks to Taco Tim for all his work putting this together plus his excellent Valleycom presentation. I would also like to extend a big thanks to Bob Smith, Mike McKenna, George DuBois, Mark Saran, Dennis Eckert, and Jim Marquand. These are people who I consider to be pioneers of the hobby and each of them are a goldmine of knowledge. It was great to hear them talk about how all this was done a number of years ago. As promised, I have created a wiki page where we can get some of this history down in writing. It is at:
http://www.interceptradio.com/wiki/inde ... _Northwest

Please PM me if you would like access to edit the wiki articles. Everyone is welcome to create and edit wiki articles. I have to manually create the wiki logins/passwords though.

It was a pleasant surprise to see Marcus (who has his hands full with 6 month old twins - congrats!) and equally surprising to see some who traveled quite a distance (Brian, Mike, Bob, George, Chris) and those who came all the way from Bellingham and the Peninsula (Jim, Pat, Eric).

Thanks again to everybody. Its your participation and effort that keeps this hobby (and this website) going.

Not to sound like a broken record here, but I also would like to thank everyone who set this up and all those who attended.

It's too bad we can't do these kinds of things more often, as getting to meet the folks we email and post messages with is a real treat. Plus getting to exchange stories and information adds a whole new dimension to this hobby. We often spend a little too much time solo with our radios, so it's nice to get out in the daylight and have some fun with this stuff.

Thanks again and if there's a move to start planning the next one, let me know if I can help.

-Chris

Thanks Tim for organizing this 2nd get together. Meeting Rich and Marcus was just great! Having Dennis, Mark, Mike, Jim, Bobby, and others who have been involved for a number of years was a real treat.

A few others to mention that I always enjoy getting together with, Wil, Sean, Brad, and Chris.

Thanks to Chris, George, and Bob who made the trip up from Portland. We need more folks from your area to be involved!

All the amateur radio folks who attend and contribute is priceless.

INW is one of the few groups who have both dedicated listeners and folks who work in the field.

I strongly suggest a bi-annual or annual meeting at different locations around Puget Sound. My schedule is very flexible. All I need is a location and date. I am also willing to help organize.

Also, I would like to make a request to those in attendance yesterday. Could I get your name/username + email address + cell numbers. Keeping in touch and exchanging emails are always a good thing.

Until Next Time...

Brian

Equally bummed.

Niece's wedding was like all others, seen one, seen 'em all.
Certainly not worth missing an event like this. (But try telling that to the war dept.)

However, watching my 2 grandsons on the dance floor may well have been worth missing the meet.

At 4 and 5 years old, I will say they DIDN'T get it from me!

Best part was when a 20-something-hot-thing :hitit: kneeled down and said "show me some moves".

5 year old snapped back: "IIII'LL show you some moves!". (and then proceeded to do so) :bowrofl:

DAAMN! These kids learn young!

Hope to make the next one.
