Yes Kent has two BC now. B71 out of station 71 and B74 out of station 74. I'm not sure how they divide up the calls but I'm also sure both BC have the flexability to jump any alarm that can use extra staff.

* Voters will be asked to approve the Regional Fire Authority Plan developed by the City of Kent Fire Department.
* Voter approval of the plan will combine the fire department administrations of Kent and Fire District 37 into a single entity of governance.
* The Regional Fire Authority will have its own funding plan and organizational structure.
* The Regional Fire Authority will address the issues of increasing service demand and growing response times.
* The Regional Fire Authority will create regional efficiencies with local control.

The City of Kent Fire Department responded to over 16,000 calls for assistance in 2009, employs 194 full-time personnel with a minimum of 28 personnel on duty 24-hours a day. We operate out of 8 fire stations, staff 7 fire engines, 2 aid cars, and 1 ladder truck under the direction of 2 shift battalion chiefs.

Also, look for continued discussion on a RFA with Renton, Tukwila, Seatac, North Highline, Burien and (I think) Skyway.

The respective unions representing those fire departments/districts are gearing up to make a case for an RFA, and are going to begin working in earnest with the electeds and city reps.

We'll see where this goes....
