Wil just saw his first case of "boat rage", complete with the (driver?) of a small sailboat screaming epithets at the people on a largish yacht and throwing full and empty beer cans at said yacht, and also something that looked like a small anchor.

Meanwhile, the people on the yacht kept placidly smoking marijuana, watching the other guy and gazing into the water.

I hate Seattle.

In which Wil starts ranting again:

Wil had a new secure filing cabinet installed today. Wil is used to several types of these, from the small red ones with the safe-style spinner combo locks to the tall, multi-drawer ones that are individually keyed for each drawer.

Wil's new cabinet has biometric sensors, complete with a UPS built in, a second battery on the sensor housing itself and a last-resort high-security key lock. The guy bringing it in placed it along a wall that has no outlet. The power cord is 24 inches long.

Wil- "Uh, how ya gonna power this thing?"

Dude- "Well it has a battery, you don't need to plug it in."

Wil- "It has to charge, that battery is for power outages..."

Dude- "This manual says it's got a battery."

Wil- "Dude, it needs to be *here* (where here refers to ANY OTHER LOCATION). I'm not moving it, that's your job, and it weighs more than I do."

Dude- "I already placed it. My instructions don't say anything about moving it."

Wil- "I see how it is. I'll give you ten bucks to just move the damn thing."

Dude- "Five bucks?"

Wil- "You're new to this whole negotiation thing, aren't you?"

...Then poor Luminoxs calls and ends up nearly getting an earful about this...

Ranting continued:

Wil just realized he has a 4,250 word (minimum), 8-section (excluding bibliography), peer-reviewed paper due Monday morning at 0001 hours. This was assigned by Prof. Hardass and is only worth 60% of the final grade.

Wil is fervently praying his fellow students are equal slackasses.

Try using a stun gun/taser on it.. I heard those electronic locks spazz out if high voltage is present and unlock themselves..

Today I learned that Whidbey 911 uses Google Maps for wayfinding. "ICOM falls back to Google when something doesn't appear in their system."

I only post this here since I know a number of Intercept members could teach this with their eyes closed...while drunk...on a merry-go-round...in the dark.

I wonder if it crossed their mind that a typical self-proclaimed "ethical hacker" (aka n00b / script kiddie / Backtrack buttboy) may not have the skills of the "unethical hacker" they are so worried about protecting the world from.
