After i bought my Pro-51, I was displeased with the
horrible anntena which came with it. I read about
some 900MHz stand up anntenas, and seen wip anntenas, but nothing
seemed to be very pleasing. (I don't like having
to switch anntenas, since i bounce around a lot beteen
46Mhz, 140MHz and 800MHz. Just for laughs, I connected
my Pro-51 to my 40 meter HAM radio antenna (inverted V
wire type) and was shocked to see that my reception
increased from the house next door to about 1-2 miles
of 46MHz reception. I quickly tuned to other bands
and noticed that even cell recieved a lot (A bit too
much since there were dual broadcasts here and there
at peak hours) I picked up calls from the Puyallup
area as far as olympia and such. If you have a
SW anntena or other large array, give it a try. Let
me know results.
