I have an FT50 which I got in Japan. I opened
it up to try to do the Freeband mod (remove jumper
#1 and the leftmost resistor), but jumper 1 was
already open, and the leftmost resistor was already gone. (This was a NEW radio.) Hmmm?
Anyway, the reset thing with knob, ptt, lamp and
power brings up "Band = f1", or sometimes
"BAND = F2c". Pushing the knob just brings it
back to VFO. Doesn't seem to be able to change
to any other "BAND=(whatever)" settings.
Has ANYONE had a similar experience? AND succeded
in expanding Tx range (currently limited to
144-146 and 430-440 MHz Tx, wideband Rx.
ALSO there is a suspiciously "jumper"-looking
green wire on the same pcb as the jumpers, going
from the little pair of surface mount components
at top center to another pair at lower slightly
left-of-center. Any clues?
Thanks in advance - I could really use some
help.
