: : Kloss Model One
: : Anyone ever listen to this new AM/FM radio? I just came across it on the web and was captivated. Simple, great looking cabinet, analog, and said to rival the Bose Wave for speaker performance. This sounds like a pretty hefty claim considering the Waves mystic in the genre of radios this size. The Model One is also MONO, no stereo, but in a unit this size would stereo even be worthwhile? Heres my question to anyone who has this unit or has looked at one...what's the AM/FM reception like? Sound?
: I'm a sound engineer and looking at the history of Bose and it's current wave radios, it's not that difficult an achivement as Bose makes it out to be. Anyone with a lick of electronic/acustic know how (like Kloss) could easily rip off or improve on the design..
: The brain power of most Boss designs is in acustical processing (before it hit's the speaker) and electronic flow design is not hard to rip off.
: I personally have not heard the Model One, but i can imagine it would be a fine product as far as acustics is conserened... I guess my point is The Wave is not a paramount achivment as the public beleives. (in the acustical industry we have a saying, "no highs, no lows, must be Bose".)
Get a pair of Klipsch K-Horns. 1960's technology that sounds better than these new plastic wonder-radios. I had a Wave-Radio once, it performed excellent as a tire-chock.
