When you can hear the FAA controller for Seattle Center or Salt Lake from your home location, then you know you are listening to an RCO (Remote Communications Outlets). Think of it as a transmitter that is remote, or not located at each FAA Center.

http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Aviation/ Home Page.

This http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Aviation/airports/map-freq-chart.htm shows a nice graphic of assigned frequencies below 18,000 feet (knownas low-altitude IFR/VFR enroute frequencies). To get high-altitude, you need to buy the High Altitude Enroute chart at a flight school operation...check the Yellow Pages) Both the low altitude and high altitude charts are really nice to have if you want to pursue this more...

This link below shows the RCOs for Flight Service stations...each location, such as EPH and MWH, has a receiver and transmitter at the site. This is so pilots can call Flight Service to get new weather information, file or cancel flight plans, etc. These frequencies are not used by an FAA Center that actually directs aircraft.

: :Thanks for the info on the Spokane East approach.I did try again and did here some traffic on 133.350. But the info I received on the posting was very helpful in understanding a little more about the relationship between Seattle Center and Spokane Approach. In fact I just recently able to get aircraft talking to Salt Lake Center. I was amazed that I was able to get SLCC as that Center covers airspace roughly south of Riggins, Idaho :

: : : In monitoring aircraft arriving into Spokane IA I can receive traffic on 123.750, which according to a aeronautical chart map is the approach to the west, the east approach is 133.350, which I have tried but no traffic. The funny thing is that I live in Moscow, ID and thus at least be getting the east approach. Any thoughts from any Spokane listeners?
