Perhaps the best way to learn is to spend some time reading info available on the web. This board is an excellent resource for those who choose to take the time to read through the history of messages. As you look through these messages you will find several URL's for sites with good explanations of the various aspects of scanning.
Also, Usenet group rec.radio.scanner is pretty informative.
And finally, nothing beats a few hours of searching on keywords related to your interest. Scanning, scanning trunked radio systems. Trunked radio systems, etc...
Good luck, and happy scanning...
: : seattle's trunked.. it's not that simple....
: Ok, I'll let you in on a little secret.. I'm totally new to this stuff, and have no idea wtf Trunking is... I bought the Bearcat X80 or whatever model it is that hits the 800 freqs.. for getting the police freqs... so like I said, I don't yet understand the whole biz, but I might as well learn, eh?
