There is a two-page errata sheet available, and there are one or two areas of major differences that will help.
http://strongsignals.net/ if you don't already have this web site, then do so. And, also on the left side of this site, try their Favorite Pages for the BC780.
I don't own the 780 but a friend let me try it out for a day or two. I really like being able to monitor multiple trunking systems AND conventional frequencies at the same time. PLUS, it has this neat feature for Motorola trunking systems -- if you don't know all the freqs associated with a trunking site, then just put in the control channel and program that bank to CONTROL CHANNEL ONLY and the scanner will now work just fine as it figures out all the frequencies. Unfortunately, I don't think it saves the frequencies it finds.
How long did you have it on order? Who did you get it from and for how much? I'm thinking of getting one but can't yet decide whether to hold off for the handheld model (supposedly this summer).
: Got my 4th TT scanner the new BC 780XLT. Is anyone else as overwhelmed by all the programming as I am? Would like to know if anyone found any errors in the instruction manual yet...
