It's now LORAN-C, and it's a transmit-only system for navigation.
Pulsed system centered at 100 kHz, 400 to 1600 kW power. The FAA
Aeronautical Information Manual has a nice brief description.
The subs went (for navigation) from LORAN to Transit to Omega years
ago, and are now using GPS/Inertial. Omega was decommissioned.
Sub communications are ELF or satcom.
