let's face it.. you're into scanning.. you are a dork.
for trunking i use cellular antennas (open phasing, mag mount on the roof of the car), for 2M you're ganna need a bit more length (i use 1/4 wave permenent trunk lid mount), and for HF you're definatly ganna need a dorky antenna.. no if ands or buts about it.
I'm a dork, my car looks like a chuck wagon after an indian attack.
I was at a pawn shop and saw a stubby little (2") rubber duck on a scanner.. i'm sure that works just as well as it looks. i think there is ALMOST no substatute for length, but that's a common thinking among men, perhaps you can get away with a rubber duck the size of a highliter??
