Some time ago I remember reading that Motorola trunking systems were either ascending or descending. Before I had a trunk tracker, while trying to follow conversations, one of the systems in my area definitely seemed to be descending - the next freq used was lower. The other two systems were ascending.
Another thing that is useful is to put the data channels first in the bank. Then it does not need to step through all the freqs. to find the data channel. At least it works that way on my BC-235.
