I'll never forget the time when Op 18 was dispatching the SE KCPD area (back on 460.45 - no trunking then...) -- it was halloween night. (I'm guessing around '93)

Someone was going around and blowing up mailboxes (firecrackers) around downtown Kent. The district courts mailbox was one of the first. (I used to work around the courthouse and that area...)

Op 18 made a comment that "...as long as they don't mess with OUR mailbox, we won't worry about it."

Sure enough, around 1 am, he comes on the air laughing, and calls the shift sgt, gives him the info, and asks for him to investigate.

About 10 minutes later, the sgt arrives at the KCPD SE precint, and they're mailbox (apparently a big one), was completely obliterated.

After they both joked about it at first, (not to mention a few other officers jokes/comments), the shift sgt put out an APB for this individual...

Op 18 thought he was kidding and bolted out laughing. Not 60 seconds later, the sgt comes back and says he wasn't kidding.

Op 18 - says his familiar, "...okay."
