BC780xlt - is it worth the $$$ ?

Guys, I need some help. I'm trying to decide if the 780 is worth the $$$ now, or should I wait for a handheld version. Has anyone heard of a handheld version on the horizon?

Anyway, Grove has the 780 for $349.95 right now. Is that the best price going?

If anyone has a 780 that they'd be willing to trade radios, etc. then let me know.
