: Also, the antenna for my car might be an issue. I'm using a Pro-2067 which I like alot but I'm getting a lot of weak/breaking signals. The antenna is a 1/4 wave 800Mhz POS mounted on a bracket on the passenger side rear of the trunk lid. My boss doesn't want me cutting into the body so no antenna holes. Got the coax, mount and connectors from ABC.

Mike, FIRST try a 3dB gain antenna - IF you can locate one with the same mount as the q-wave. ABC should have a standard truck - CLIP mount that clips over the edge of the trunk lip. MOVE the antenna to the center-edge of the trunk lid. When you close the trunk your antenna should be centered about 6-7 inchs behind the rear window on a car. Make sure you are using a 800 MHZ mount and coax - NOT a standard RG-58 coax and NMO - Larson/Motorola mount. TWO basics - Gain Antenna - TALL enough to see the radio waves and THE GROUND PLANE - is better in the CENTER MASS of and metal car/truck. A more uniform NON-Directional effect both transmit and receieve. Mike McKenna
