I apologize if I sound a bit aggressive but this has been angering me for a long time. I for the life of me CANNOT find a legitimate POCSAG encoder for the soundcard that can broadcast more than 1000 messages in a single output stream to the soundcard. All I have is SoRFMon's encoder and that only leaves room for 5 messages. The reason I say 1000 is because im trying to look for a console based (command line tool) that is in this or a similar format basically after you launch it from a console window, note this is only a tool base:
Pocsag encoder for the soundcard on Linux and windows.
--tx speed speed 1-3, 512, 1200, 2400 in that order
--preamble length --how long you want the preamble. measured in 1/1000 of a second at 1200 bits per second. Use 500 for 500 millisecond preamble at this speed.
--addr the 7 digit address up to 2097151
--fn function number {0-3}
--message type message type, 0 for alpha, 1 for numeric, 2 for tone only (no message)
--message the message itself. Can be as large as you want. If you want to redirect this message to a wav, flac, ogg or mp3, go "<" followed by the name of your destination file name. Otherwise, this will output to stdout. Once your done, you can copy paste or redo these steps *in this order* and it will produce a batch of messages. However, I would highly suggest organizing these steps with the {} characters if you want batches of messages.

For batches, they will add on to the waveform the same way that SoRFMon does, basically continuing to the next set of messages. So, in essence, This utility is also able to also generate broadcasts in excess of 1000-10000 messages or more. This is useful in large emergency broadcasts, including severe weather, police and fire calls, ems emergencies, and especially those involving statewide ops.


Ive been so frustrated as to why most of the major networks in America have the ability to do this every time...ughhh. LOL.

I'd be happy to see a Golay encoder and a Motorola Moden 100 emulator.

Another reason I also posted this was because most paging networks in the US and around the world have specialized terminals for piping that many messages out..
I wish this would get awareness...

Its also note worthing that the user should also have equal say about something like this. In my eyes, I would rather have the simple desktop user do similar encoding as to what corporations do.

Not claiming expertise on this subject but I wonder how the BER would look trying to pipe soundcard output of POCSAG into a radio. If I recall correctly looking at it off the air (discriminator output into a scope) its fairly clean square wave which of course will decode well. Anything pumped into a microphone with circuitry expecting audio will probably come out the other end as square wave with rounded edges if put in as clean square wave.

Thats also true. the 2FSK standard is supposed to sound like a square wave in NFM mode. Its supposed to be raw binary data. LOL.
