Does anyone know which crossband sites are transmitting on 151.070?

I can BARELY hear one from home in Seattle.

I hear Snoqualmie Pass on 151.040 as well as some simplex ferry traffic.

I guess this is a case of answer my own question.

I did some more listening to 151.070 and it sounds like Ellensburg area crews with 5xxx unit designators and talking about locations like Thrall, Ryegrass, and Elk Heights.

The dispatch was "Yakima".

My guess is that the site I am hearing is the one on Cleman Mountain, which is about 18 miles northwest of Yakima.

It would be real nice if DOT had automatic morse ID'ers on these sites.

Come to think of it, does anyone know why DOT can operate these sites without ID'ing?

I used to hear that same traffic simulcasted on 151.025, it's still there but not as strong as before.

I just programmed the 156.12 in my VX150 and it comes in ok 151.04, 07 do not 151.025 in my Icom may be have switched, I know I used to hear ODot freq from Salem on 025 from about Woodland south.

Kinda kewl to have the link as the first word of avalanche opening/closing is usually heard there plus the usual chat and temp. readings.

I am able to hear some traffic on 151.040 here in Moses Lake. I see multiple tones coming across the decoder. I see 2 separate tones 131.8 and 156.7.

I am still hoping to hear DOT traffic on 151.070 as I am fairly close to Ryegrass.

I'll post more DOT cross patch freqs/tones as I hear them here in Eastern Washington.

So have you guys enough information to list DOT frequencies by which pass they serve and which ones are used on ferries? PL tones and all?

Isn't 151.040 kind of a 'common' ops freq aboard the vessels? All I hear is traffic ops on the docks and decks.

Had the pleasure of sloshing up I-90 this weekend. 156.12 seems to peak near North Bend, so likely it's on Rattlesnake (it has very low audio). There were still the two 151 pass channels (E and W) going, and all three had the same traffic on them.
Also noted a separate source with a 110.9 tone, definitely not I-90 - didn't hear enough to get even a general direction for it. Seems like the system is getting expanded!

They must patch different DOT groups or areas to certain 151 freqs, 156.12 was active this weekend but tonite I heard a plow on SR 167 that was being patched on 151.025.

Does'nt the 800mhz kinda suck up in the mountains?
Over on SR2/ Stevens I used to hear King County SO (C-9) on the WSP Freq, assuming it was because the 800 wasn't working all that well in the terrain.
I'm wondering if DOT is using VHF because the kazillion dollar super-duper trunk system is not performing up in, and over the pass as well as VHF and even VHF Lo-Band can.

Well, if you really wanted to, I would keep a few of the apporpriate low-band freqs in the radio, just for the passes. I thought I read or heard someone say that they were using low band for plow to plow comms when the 800 sucked up there. I used to run into Jon Marcinko who helped design that but havent seen him for a year or so. But if we're hearing what's simulcast on 151/156 then at least it works in most areas. I suspect it has gone beyond the original backbone of towers and is constantly being tweaked.
