So maybe someone was testing a system prior to deploying it?

Isn't Icom in the area?

Yes, and Moneyrolla has offices in the area too, though I'm not sure what happened to the LMR guys after Google bought the Wil division.

454.4, 454.425 Constant control channel. Sounds kind of like EDACS or 3600 baud Moto. But it's not either.

Callsigns:

STALKER 6
STALKER 2
1392

Comments regarding a possible tire issue

Several mentions of "405" ... possible US Army convoy? Couldn't pinpoint an exact location.

Here's a tail-end clip of the transmission before they left my range: http://home.comcast.net/~cnick6/stalker6.wma
UPDATE: Open mic recording: http://home.comcast.net/~cnick6/openmic.wma
UPDATE: Callsign exchange but no reply: http://home.comcast.net/~cnick6/stalker2.wma

More than likely Army. Usual route would put them on the 405 at some point.

Were you searching 30-80 or is that a freq you usually listen to?

Heh, no. I was actually trying to localize some RFI on HF. I saw this massive signal on my SDR's waterfall. Hard to miss a FM signal that's S9+20db. :)

I think they might have been on I-90 when I first picked them up. That would have put them less than 3 miles from me.

I have this in my database listed as Convoy #10 32.700 (Army National Guard).

461.025 (CSQ) Picking it up very faint from N Seattle. Sounds like special ed bus ops. One location was "Mount Baker". There's a Mount Baker Middle School in Auburn and a few of them in Whatcom county. One driver noted that traffic was backed up past "the furniture store" on Division. Also a couple references to "Madison".
