I lived on Levin rd (off sr308) for a year, power off for five days onetime.
I own a generator now.

Yeah, was just getting ready to buy a generator... Now there isn't one to be found anywhere in the area... 48hrs isn't to bad I know... Grew up on Vashon, used to be a 4 day minimum out there, if it was really bad could be upwards of a week if no longer...

Hi guys.
I'll be traversing the great northwest headed to my new home in Redmond. I was thinking on coming across SD and Montana via I-90 as I have heard that is the more scenic route. However some people have suggested I take I-80 to I believe to I-84 and come up via Oregon from the south due to the weather you are all getting.

Based on current road conditions and upcoming weather thru Thursday, does anyone have any suggestions for the best driving route? I have no idea what to expect.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I-80 to I-84 is definitely better in the middle of winter (Jan-Feb). For this time of year its a tossup depending on conditions. The two main places to check on I-90 is Wyoming between Sheridan/Gillette and Lookout Pass which is on the MT/ID border. If those areas have good road conditions you will probably be ok.

Not sure where you're coming from.
I would recommend the southern route.
There's four mountain ranges in MT, Then Lookout & 4th of July passes in ID.
Heavy snow in Eastern WA.
If you run I84 to I5, you can avoid Snoqualmie also.
