A handful of people on Intercept made a file for the Uniden 396/996 which has all the public safety frequencies (about 8000 channels) for Washington, Oregon, and California.

What makes this file really great is that it includes the GPS coordinates for all the frequencies/talkgroups. If you plug a GPS into your scanner you can drive all over the 3 state area and the scanner will automatically scan frequencies in your immediate area.

If you don't have a GPS on your Uniden this file is still useful as you can manually lock out the areas you don't want to scan (or you can just upload the areas you are interested in listening to).

The file should also work with the BCT15 and other Uniden DMA scanners.

To load the file you need to use FreeSCAN which can be downloaded from: http://www.scannow.org

The FreeSCAN software is high quality and its free. Please consider using the "donate" button on their website.

Here is our wiki article on connecting a GPS to a Uniden scanner: http://www.interceptradio.com/wiki/index.php/Uniden_GPS_Setup

For now we will keep the file attached to this post. Download it and give it a try ! It will be uploaded to our wiki once we have a finalized version.

By default all sites/groups are locked out. If you aren't using a GPS just unlock the sites/groups you plan on listening to.

I didn't see Portland fire tg's in the data base, maybe I missed that. It also had Umatilla/Morrow UHF as a P25 system unless I changed something.

I show Umatilla/Morrow as Motorola UHF. What do you have for Portland FD talkgroups ? Perhaps I missed it. I know Multnomah County FD is in there.

You guys are lifesavers.

I was about to go cry because I was gonna have to program over 1,000 channels into my BCT15 :(

I'll upload my file later tonight -- it's more Seattle-Eastside centric.

I really appreciate this. All I had was a copy/paste of multnomah county list of talkgroups.

Does this look correct if I just want to listen to police and sheriffs around Portland? I noticed that multnomah co E and mult co W are identical talk groups. ID's are all the same. Is that an error?

Keep in mind the Uniden 396/996/15 scanners can only define circular geographic areas for scanning with a GPS. For countywide talkgroups, to cover the Multnomah County boundaries using only circles it was best to use two partially overlapping circles, one labeled East and one labeled West. If you click on Freescan's map button for each area you'll see what I mean.

I only have the 346 but I hear they are the same but without digital.

Also, I have an old Microsoft (Pharos) GPS 360. Can this be used with the scanner?

So now I realize these are all the exact same talkgroups that I already had as far as Portland goes.

Yeah, the sheriffs office is on 122nd on the east side there is no west side office that I know of.
