Hi all... I just started goofing around with PDW 2.53 and most of what I'm getting for decode is gibberish and bit errors.

I'm using a PRO-97 with the audio feeding a sound card.

Has anyone here played with this thing and had decent decode?

with a D-Tap you can get 100% of decode, I have posted frequency's for all the major systems in bellevue/seattle area if you search if you dont find them i can post a update back here.

Use a discriminator tap. Used base station scanners are cheap enough at pawn shops and hamfests, and are easy enough to add a tap to.

Well, hacking the PRO-97 looks pretty simple. I actually have 2, so one can become my POCSAG radio.

Most of what I've been getting is clean, but about 20% is gibberish or garbled. I'm hoping that adding a D-Tap will clean some of that up.

Thanks for your help guys. The POCSAG thing adds a who new dimension to scanning!

Rob, what frequencies are you monitoring? I'm hacking up my Pro-2006 for a D-Tap, so I'll give it a shot as well.

Ooh, you got my attention. Okay, I'll do the mod tomorrow and let you know how it goes. I have most of the parts.

just remember there is a lot of grey area when it comes to legality of monitoring pager communications, like its not legal for the most part in the us of a. even though its not encrypted the encoding and data on such traffic.

PDW software comes from out of the US if I remember where its not illegal

so when you get up and running and start logging for a few days you will find that you have some rather personal and high security data from the pager data ... use discretion on your chatter about it.

I just starting using PDW v 2.3 about 2 weeks ago. I'm using an old BC portable with a line from the audio out on the scanner to the mic in on the computer. The software is very sensitive, you have to have the audio set just right. It has been working fine for me. I have been logging only ESPSCA and Snohomish County Fire stuff on Freq. 152.0075 . You could find that Freq. listed on Intercept Northwest Web site.

Does anyone know what Freq. Seattle Fire Pagers run on?

I can care less about other agency pagers, but Fire is interesting to me. I have ran my other scanner to listen to dispatch and at the same time I'm receiving the Text on my computer. So I say it works pretty well. You can also assign a wav file to your favorite Cap codes so when it logs you could assign the old Emergency TV Show Tone out Klaxon.

not that I know of that huge list of frequency's is a list of systems that had POCSAG data or something that sounded damn close, its just a matter of watching them and then figuring out if its fire data on the line. its been a bit since I have done pager decoding so havent been watching the air for them sorry :( but on the positive note its very easy to find pager data start with the pager 900's or you just need to ask a fireman to read the frequency printed on his pager. most pagers print the operation range somewhere on a sticker on them. I do remember EMS data on a few of the top 7 frequency's but I think it was mostly nurse pagers not dispatch for engines I will try to get some time this weekend to fire up PDW and help locate it, but the fast way is just ask a fire member of the board here to print up the frequency of the pager.

This might be a good place to start:

hint: you might find some interesting action on 931.2125
