Somehow one of the nicest days of the year turned out to be one of the days I didn't have to work. It also turned out to be one of the hottest. My plan was to hike West Tiger #1 and #3. I ended up doing WT3 via High Point and Cougar Radio Hill via some dirt road.

West Tiger 1 from almost the summit at WT3.

Look, Entercom stations come in at 5 bars with no antenna!

Image
I have no idea; both towers can be seen clearly from WT3.

I guess this is Seattle? Way too much crap in the air.

DOT tower inside Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park. One of the easiest towers to get to. Once you're in the park, it's a 2 minute walk on a paved road. Notice the camera? Maybe Brian saw me when he toured the WSDOT command center.

City of Seattle puts their stuff on top of fire lookouts.

Image
PSE has a microwave tower on every hill in Washington.

Image
Ratelco owns more than half of the antennas on Cougar.

But Entercom's only tower is much cooler looking.

I lost track of who owns what.

The view from Radio Hill; looking North.

Anyone know--does this take you to the top of WT1? It's just off the Tiger Summit exit on 18.

Last time I was at that green building a tower worker fell from about 30 feet right after I left the site...

Had a 20 year old climb the old KRAB FM tower - on Cougar Mtn -- in December -- while it just started to snow. There were 3 FM's -- all with 100 KW ERP -- and ten bays. The kid got to the top and had to take off his shirts and jacket -- it was so HOT. someone forgot to tell the guys to turn down the power. That 115 dBu blanketing Contour -- can be a bitch. His kids are great swimmers -- with fins and scales instead of hands and feet.

That lower left sign looked a lot newer on a couple of the gates.

The towers in the third picture are on West Tiger #2. The microwave tower is owned by Boeing; dunno about the other one.

If that gate in the last picture is the one at the lower parking lot of the Tiger Summit area, then, yes, it's the access road for the towers on West Tiger #1 and 2, among other things.
