KPTK is now KFNQ, also announcing KJAQ 96.5HD3 at the top of the hour ID. Some say CBS will flip am 1090 from progressive talk to CBS Sports radio before the end of the year, along with other CBS owned stations in similar markets, to compete with ESPN and FOX sports programming. This will make 1090 and possibly 96.5HD3 the 6th sports stations in the Seattle/Tacoma Everett market counting FM 102.9. 620 KPOJ in Portland switched to Fox sports in the course of one day. KLAY 1180 in Lakewood has agreed to carry some of KPTK's syndication, although a weaker signal.

I remember 1090 was "11" and played music.

Yes.
Reliable sources say KRKO 1380 or KKXA in Everett will pick up the progressive talk since they have a 50k watt signal, directional. KKXA is 20k pending an increase to 50k This info keeps changing...

In the 60s, KING was personality radio on the order of how KOMO and KIRO used to be. In the 70s, they butted heads with KOL and KJR for the Top 40 market.

Doesn't look like Everett stations will change at this time, just KLAY getting two of the progressive talkers for now. KMCQ 104.5 seems to be making changes, their web site is less than promotional and they dumped the listen live link.
