SEATTLE -- After more than 15 years of conservative talk radio, 570 KVI will flip to an oldies music format next week.

Fisher Communications, parent company of both KVI and KOMONews.com, said the station will become "Seattle's Greatest Hits 570 KVI" starting Monday, Nov. 8.

In a written statement, KVI Program Director Travis Box said the station will play music from the 60s and 70s mixed with many well-known Seattle radio personalities.

"There was a huge opening on the Seattle AM radio dial for an oldies-format station and the exciting addition of Seattle's Greatest Hits 570 KVI is another unique way for parent company Fisher Communications to serve the community," said Box.

Along with music and personalities, the new 570 KVI will be a full service radio station with hourly local news and traffic updates.

"We are pleased to return full service AM radio to Seattle and 570 KVI's format change presents a huge opportunity for Fisher's group of radio stations to enhance their overall success," said Fisher Radio Seattle Vice President and General Manager Jim Clayton in the same written statement.

570 KVI mornings will be hosted by Tom Hutyler and Marina Rockinger. Mark Christopher is slated to host afternoons and Ric Hansen will host nights.

Rush Limbaugh and Fox News Radio moving from KVI to KTTH spelled the beginning of the end for KVI.

It was thought they might go spanish. I talked to an insider who stated Fisher was thinking of buying 1090 back in 2004 and turning it into progressive talk before CBS did. I wonder if Fisher can cram Suits and the other syndicated hosts all on 770? Who will pick up C to C and Alien radio talk?
