Everyone knows that back on Dec. 19, 2004, a private plane hit the 750 foot main KFI AM radio tower. After fighting the locals off -- the FCC, FAA and city approved a request to replace the fallen tower with a new 650 foot tower -- and a 35 foot "Top Hat" Construction began about ten days ago. However, yesterday, as the construction was nearing the 300 foot mark, a sudden "Single Point" tower failure caused the KFI tower to again collapse. Only minor damage to a couple of cars and the roof of a nearby warehouse. One tower worker had minor injuries. Looks like it's back to the drawing boards. If Earl C. was still alive --- it would have already been re-built. That 320 foot tower in Klamath Falls, Oregon is looking GOOD.
