http://koin.com/2014/09/24/when-the-big ... uhf-radio/ Comments at bottom of the page are interesting too. Are they using the old BOEC UHF freqs?

Wow, as much searching as I did, I honestly could not locate a frequency list. I found VHF amateur lists, talkgroup lists and FRS/GMRS recommendations, but nothing on BEECN freqs...

"NET 4" 460.125, the old MCSO/Gresham/Troutdale PD is still licensed along with a few other NET freqs. That is the only setup I can think would be up and running to talk to area fire stations thru a UHF repeater. I wonder who makes sure the radios are being charged when they are not being broken into?

Yeah,Part 90 possibly simplex, since they mention using a cable to connect the antenna. They wouldn't be able to get around the second party usage of part 97 freqs for the UHF end by not having a licensed amateur present. But it states "authorized persons" for the VHF portion at fire stations. I think they would need something interference free (licensed, and non business )on UHF to make it work.

I want to say the Water Bureau has some UHF stuff still licensed...but I could be wrong.

Also, with these kits, you are suposed to get a VHF ham station kit that is at every PFR station...

While now irrelevant, talk of Portland Fire and radio reminds me of the old call out system, which I was told were 5 digit DTMF sequences that were thee station number with leading zero's. I am told it was a fairly rapid cadence and had to be pretty dead nuts on, but I also hear it was "do-able".

As in trucks rolling out onto the drive and waiting for the address of the call...

Ahh the good old days...
