It looks like Harris may have some sites on the air for the trunked portion of the Oregon State Radio Project. It is a Harris P-25 Phase II capable system, and while I was in Salem this afternoon, I found this site on the air:

System ID : 00A
System Name : OSRP 700 MHz
WACN : 9254A
Tower Number (Decimal): 3-3
Tower Number (Hex) : T0303
Tower Description : SALEM AREA 700 MHZ
Control Capabilities : Data,Voice,Registration
Call Sign(s) :
Timestamp : Fri Aug 15 11:55:37 2014

-Tables
#Format: Table ID,Base Freq,Spacing,Input

08,769.00000,0.00625,30.00000,"Confirmed",0.01250,2

-Frequencies

Also today, someone on that other web site posted this info from somewhere else south of the Portland area:

"08-0214","v",769.66875/0,"08-0214",799.66875/0,0,24

During my time watching the control channel in Salem, the site did not report any affiliations or activity, and did not show it was connected to any other site yet…

Keep an eye out for one or two ids constantly doing data calls. Typically its coverage testing.

Is there any VHF in this system? I'm trying to figure out why these mountainous states keep going anything higher than 173 MHz.

1. Because there is not a standard offset, trying to find a single pair at VHF is a royal PITA, let alone a 4 or 5 pairs at a site.

2. The requirements for protecting co and adjacent channels during coordination at TDMA is a royal PITA.

3. It covers very well, and that causes issues with timing at the edge of the coverage.

4. The combining at VHF is a royal PITA. Size, complexity and expense.

Other than that, its awesome for analog and simplex.

Not part of the trunking system.

OSP & ODOT are planning on VHF statewide, and 700 MHz trunking in a "horseshoe" system that covers up I-5 around the Columbia River and back south towards Bend. At least that was the plan at one time…
