Had to make a quick trip to Oregon and back this week, and realized that my coverage from about Chehalis south was terrible on my pre-programmed HAM radio in the car.

Any suggestions on friendly repeaters for that part of the I-5 drive?

I had WA7ABU's system for the willamette valley/Salem area, and I had 440.450+ (for KE7JFF :-) but it sounded like a linked system with Hawaii was on the air as I was driving through, and that also seemed to be linked to the Goat Mtn repeater also mentioned before (443.7+)

When you say "to Oregon", how far are you going?

147.060 / 110.9 is famous for I-5 coverage from about Tacoma clear into Portland. This is located on Boistfort (pronounced "Baw Faw")

Years ago I used to work 147.320 (unknown what tone they use) from Kelso or north of, clear down into Eugene. This is (or was) located on South Saddle Montain which sits high up in the coast range west of Hillsboro.

Also, 146.780 (again, fuzzy on the tone) covers Portland to Eugene without trouble. This is (or was) on Mary's Peak above Corvallis

78 has coverage far into Washington, might be worth trying somewhere south of Olympia.

Yes it is a very good machine.

I hit it from many spots up around Sisters, Bend, etc... when I was working over that way.

My mom lives in Salem so that's as far as I go south.

I had 147.060 at BawFaw but had the wrong PL Tone. Fixed now :-)

Any PL Tones for the 146.78 or 147.32 repeaters?

Portland Proper, I recommend hands down N7PIR.

440.450+ 103.5 PL at Skyline Tower
441.700+ 103.5 PL at Goat Mountain.

its where I hang out.

Yea, but when I was driving through there was some guy describing that he was in MAUI :-) and that was just too hard to listen to....

in all seriousness, he did somehow ( i assume an internet connection) have both those repeaters on a link to Maui, HI.

I know this is an old post, but your thinking of AH6LE's system.
