We leave Wednesday (9/3) and head for Medford. Saturday its thru Klamath Falls and staying in Lakeview for 2 nights. Homeward on Monday.

I will be monitoring all the local agencies as well as some federal stuff. I'll post what I can when I get back and decipher my notes.

Well, Lakeview & Lake County in general is pretty uneventful in regards to radio traffic.

The ONLY law enforcement channel 155.070 (CSQ) was very sporadic. The 90th annual county fair was on, and I saw several officers, but still very little traffic.
The main fire channel: 154.430 was fairly quiet. Some local fire traffic had a tone of 186.2
OSP was busy on 154.845 (131.8 )
Lakeview PWD 158.835 had a few transmissions, but have determined that to be coming from Modoc County. The tones were inconsistent with Lakeview as they run CSQ on that channel.

On the trip home I was able to key the repeaters on 'Dead Indian'. Those would be 155.070, 155.955, and 156.045. I also keyed 151.025 on Round Pass. This channel is apparently shared by ODF and OSP.

I f you are looking to vacation in Lake County and want to listen to lots of traffic, I would think again. Very, very quiet!

Sounds like an area in dire need of a P25 compliant 700mhz trunked system. I'm thinking 11 sites would provide adequate coverage...

In addition, the proposed system will cover parts of Harney, Lake and Klamath counties, and provide coverage into Siskiyou County, CA. The proposed system "name" is the Four Area Interoperability Link, or FAIL for short. Estimated costs run from $210 million to $250 million, approximately the GNP of Micronesia. The new trunked system will be paid for entirely through a "per hoof" tax on livestock within the coverage area, as cattle in the FAIL zone outnumber humans 300-to-1.
