OREGON: Oregon cell phone ban wins final OK By The Associated Press Salem, Ore. Oregon lawmakers have given final approval to bill to ban use of hand-held cell phones while operating a motor vehicle. The measure, which was approved by the House on Wednesday, now goes to Gov. Ted Kulongoski for his expected signature. The new law will impose a maximum $90 fine on drivers caught texting or talking on a hand-held cell phone. It does not apply to drivers using a cell phone equipped with a handsfree device. Supporters of the ban say drivers who become distracted by using hand-held cell phones pose a traffic safety hazard to themselves and others. Oregon will become the sixth state with such a ban. The measure is House Bill 2377. Does anyone know if they wrote out the part using two way radio including amateur? |

"Exceptions are provided for public safety and emergency personnel, persons operating a vehicle within the scope of employment, persons engaged in certain one-way communications, and FCC-licensed amateur radio and two-way radio operators." http://www.leg.state.or.us/press_releases/sdo_062309.html Guess that makes it illegal to use a CB while driving unless you are a trucker... |

Depending on which channel you're on, CBs are one-way comms. |
