Post subject:  Umatilla, OR federal TRS?

I came through the Umatilla area early this morning (0600), and caught
a weird TRS signal.

The control channel was on 419.3625, and I caught P25 voice on
416.5625 and 419.7625.

Anyone know who this is?

I also caught the EDACS one on 407.150, and the county one on 460.600.

Thanks!

That's the Umatilla Chemical Depot system...

As a former employee of the Depot, I have to chime in....
Digital: Yes. Typical Gov't lower 400.000's
The county and Depot have mutual freq for emergency purposes.
Depot fire can respond off base for mutual aid.
Umatilla County was moving to UHF when I was down there, probably have by now.
I may have posted a long time ago some info here, I can't remember.

OT, but I too, don't care:
Security armed with Pro mask, M16 (full auto) & M9. But most have ridiculous range skills.

the Outlaw, When did you work at the depot? I know another ham, someone who retired there in 88' Has a lot of stories from the 50's-80's. Anyway, Chris, the 407.150 Hanford DOE, did you hear any voice traffic?

There is a newer Umatilla/Morrow Talk Group list which seems to be from an official doc.

As I recall the Umatilla Army Depot and the Boardman Bombing Range are somewhat close to each other. With both being Federal facilities could they both be using the system?

Geez, I'm thinking 2002. I left for a better job. Or what I thought at the time was a better job. I started there after they switched from VHF to the system they have now.

Most of the depot is vacant, with the exception of the mustard gas rotting away in K block.

I don't think the Bombing range has a large staff, it is some distance away in the world of repeater coverage at the west end. Boeing had some operations there in the 70's-80's with their projects. Used to see the signs just off the freeway exits warning of Boeing access. I'm guessing the Depot CSEEP TRS is a low level system unlike the county. I was told that the Navy has/had a security response team at the Bombing Range that could respond to the Depot if needed.

The last time I spent any time up in Richland, WA, I heard not a peep out of the Hanford EDACS system. It used to be quite busy with what sounded like contractor and construction stuff.

The Umatilla County info does seem to be accurate and the system has pretty good coverage over both Morrow and Umatilla counties...

Oh ok, I got you confused with Will and his EDACS hit so it seems their system is up and running

FYI Chris, I heard nothing at all re: VHF trunking at either Umatilla, Sunnyside, Yakima area or Manastash Ridge....In response to the fedfiles post.

Hey Chris, they aren't by chance on the Bechtel system, are they?

I looked for the Bechtel 800 MHz system, but never found it on the air. Is it actually built?

I did hear from a reliable source that the VHF DoE trunked system was taken off the air, due to problems with the equipment not meeting specs. Supposedly they kept the subscriber radios and are using them conventionally.

I also heard that there is supposedly a Passport trunked system at Hanford, but haven't found it yet...

I was over there last week, I programmed the DOE EDACS system according to the channel plan 01,02 etc and set every channel for ED It would stop on the control channel 407.150 every other scan through and display "CTL-01 and 03" at the bottom of the display. Never heard any voice traffic. I think I tried the Bechtel system last year and got a control channel but that was it. All of the Hanford Patrol and Fire is still on analog VHF. The fire does a lot of radio checks on 164.4
