Ok - from what I can gather, Deschutes Law Enforcement is on the 800 trunking system, and Fire/EMS is on VHF conventional.

Does that sound right?

Also, anyone have current information on Amateur repeaters? The list on the Intercept Deschutes page seems like a good start, so I'll probably just copy that into my radio and figure it out when I get down there. How about the 145.450 repeater listed for Mt. Bachelor...is that ACTUALLY at the ski resort, or on a mountain nearby, or off the air?

How about a VHF or UHF repeater that will cover the Bend/Sun River/Mt. Bachelor ski are inclusive? It looks like LaPine is just south of Sun River, so those repeaters may be a good choice.

Everything was current & confirmed by me as of a year ago. Should still be good as things don't change much down there. 147.36 is a good repeater for Bend. Sunriver is in a hole so try 146.64. Its located next to the old AT&T microwave site on Spring River Butte and looks down over Sunriver. Also check 146.52 & 146.55 for some morning activity.

Ok, cool - figured it probably didn't change too much.

I'll try doing CC trunking - do you recall what "plan" it used (1, 2, 3, or 4)?

Thanks, Brad

They are on their original allocation and haven't been refarmed so Plan 1 would probably work.

Thank you for the offer - I took my trip last week, and it seemed to work out ok. I think I got the major frequencies and systems working, and got some good listening in.

I have to say...the Deschutes 800 system sounds pretty good. Granted, I was generally in the major population centers and highways (Sunriver, Bend, Mt. Bachelor, and north up through Redmond). I never seemed to have any problem picking up the system on my BC250 on the stock duck inside the vehicle. Always seemed to sound good. Maybe it's less dependable out east and way back in the hills....but, I was impressed.

I probably won't be back there for awhile - but for anyone who wants a ARC250 file for the area, I've got it.

Thanks for the info, Rich. The information still seems to be accurate.
